The Gingerbread House of 2010

December 22, 2010/Holidays

We are busy living life around here… having lots of fun and living to tell about it. The first thing on our Christmas Break 2010 list was to make a gingerbread house. Monday before Ainsley left for school, the girls and I put together the walls of the house.

When she got home, we got to work putting on the decorations.

And eating them.

Um, and eating more of them…

And trying the icing. (that’s an icing bag in Natalie’s mouth)

Ryan felt left out.

The finished product (with two kids licking the icing bowl in the background!)

The house lasted less than 24 hours before falling to the ground.

The girls were disappointed for all of two seconds when they realized it is way easier to eat smashed up.

And that was the end of the gingerbread house.

Next up: Cinnamon Ornaments and Family Photos!

You can totally tell by our house that I did not let the kids help. I am the Christmas meanie.

Love it! Scotty had the icing all over his little self while he and I made our house. I has managed to remain intact but all he yummy candy gone from it. Yours looks larger than ours and so adorable. The girls were very creative.

This was my first year of doing gingerbread houses. My one year old was totally into eating and our house was left just as bare as it had been straight out of the box! Haha! Looks like y’all had a blast! I’m sorry all that work broke, but like you said, I guess the kids didn’t mind too much!

This year, we bought a special gingerbread “castle.” It was a bit too complicated for this craft-impaired mom, and our walls came tumbling during construction. Thankfully, the girls we happy to call it a day…perhaps my frustration was showing a bit too much?
