We made it! This is the view from our balcony.

Not bad. We are staying in my mother-in-law’s time share. She told me she bought her unit specifically because the children’s pool and play yard are directly beneath the balcony. She wanted it to be close for her grandkids. Love her.

But I am ahead of myself. First, the girls had a tasty breakfast of cheerios and apple juice in the airport waiting to board the flight to Mexico. They talked about Mexico for days, weeks really, and were so excited to finally be leaving for our big trip.

My favorite quotes from take off…
Ainsley: Is it almost time to blast off?
Natalie: I can see tons and tons from up here. You can see over the trees. Look how they look circle-sh.
Ainsley: I can see the land, Natalie. LOOK! We’re on top of the air.
Natalie: We aren’t on top of the air, we’re in the air. (laughing) You can’t be on top of the air.
This is what I used to do on a plane.
I was going to take a picture of what I now do, but I was too busy doing it! We took 5 trips to the bathroom, realized the dvd I brought for the children’s viewing pleasure wasn’t in the case I brought (rookie mistake!), and downed two expensive box lunches which were worth every penny.
When Natalie saw the Jacuzzi on our balcony she said, “We can take a bath out here!” After a second she said, “Wait a minute, we can’t take a bath out here (hands flying up to cover her chest) because we’re girls.”

After unpacking, we hit the beach and the pool. Natalie was excited to collect shells and coral with Uncle Clayton. I brought doodling pads and colored pencils for the girls to have nature journals – a fun activity Natalie’s kindergarten class does at school. When I told her she was overwhelmed…. she hugged me tightly and gushed, “Thanks, mom.” It was like I had handed her the moon.
Ainsley was more interested in the sand than the water, a girl after my own heart.
A view of Cozumel from our resort’s private beach.
And, of course, what would the world be like without Walmart? Loaded question, I know. But it was handy for grabbing a few meals worth of food and snacks for when we don’t want to head to a restaurant.
Okay, I’m off for day two of relaxing. I am working on the relaxing part. I think it will take me a few days to really chill. Ryan’s caregiver emailed me to say he is happy, eating and pooping and sleeping well. What a relief. I had a bit of anxiety over whether he would have a bit of anxiety and I’m so happy to hear he is fine.
Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there.

WELL-DESERVED BREAK!!!!!!!!!!!! enjoy it and try not to dwell on feeling anxious or guilty about leaving ryan – he certainly won’t remember or hold it against you. 🙂 think of it as an opportunity to spend seriously quality time with the girls after so much stress in their lives, too, and a great opportunity to RELAX on your part! make sure you get some time completely ALONE to relax while you’re there!!!!! get a massage or sit on the beach and read or WHATEVER! 🙂 🙂 🙂

Enjoy your time! The place looks beautiful where you are staying. Glad you could get away. You deserve it.
Stopped by moms house yesterday. Ryan is doing great. Mom fed him his food then got his milk ready in the feeding machine and sat down to wait the 30 minutes you told her to wait. Ryan got mad because he watched her get it ready and then he knew he wasn’t getting any. Katie and I insisted he knew what she was doing, mom said he didn’t. After a few min, mom and katie hooked him up. He was asleep soon after. Such a sweet baby! Glad I was able to see him.
    love ya
