Welcoming our Baby!

April 29, 2009/Ryan
He’s home!!
Yesterday was an incredible day. I have no words to describe the feeling of bringing a baby home that you didn’t think would arrive for several more months. It was quite surreal…I didn’t believe it would happen until he was actually in my car, on the way home. Reality hit about 10 minutes from home and I started bawling my head off.
There is a lot of care involved with a newborn!!  For those wondering – he did NOT sleep through the night!  In fact, with everything that goes into having a feeding tube, I slept less than he did.
I’ll post more later on the details of the day and what having him home means logistically for us, but for now, here are some pictures of the monumental day.
Getting ready to come home… say goodbye to the hospital, Ryan.

Strapped in the car…already falling asleep. He slept the entire ride home.
Sitting in the living room in the first minutes home.
(Thank you, friends, for cleaning and disinfecting the house)
This explains the next picture…
Ryan’s Ebenezer… a stone set up as reminder of God’s presence and help in our lives. We sang the hymn “Come Thou Fount” on Sunday and I thought…I need to set up an Ebenezer in regards to Ryan. When I walked through my door, this was sitting just inside. it brought me to tears.

I am not sure how I found your blog, (I am guessing the “bunny trail” of links) But I have been watching, waiting and praying for you all and am sooo happy that you finally can have your baby home! He is precious!
May God be with you all as you learn and grow together as a family outside of the hospital.

Hurray! I’ll be praying that things go well for all of you. And that God gives you grace as you care for Ryan. I loved the “ebenezer’ idea..what a great reminder!! So glad that you’re at home.

Oh Wow! I kept thinking it would happen and then it suddenly DID! 🙂
I’m so so happy for all of you. Give yourself/and Ryan time to settle into a routine. Neither of you are used to being home together. It will calm down soon.

Maybe you could have somebody come over and watch kids for a while these first few days so you can take a rest during the day. I’ll be praying for you.

    I’m praising God with you!

I am teary happy for you!! Praise God! I know what a burden has been lifted from you, having all of your children under one roof again, but I also know how stressful it can be to be “on your own” without nurses, etc. to help – just know you’re not on your own with all of us praying for you!

Wonderful news! I love the ebenezer stone. Our church has a vase with lots of ebenezer stones in it. Anytime we see the Lord in an area of our life, we can write that on a stone and put it in the vase. You may not want to write on the stone, but if you did you could write special dates on there so that it told his story.

Anyway, I’m so happy to see him home and I know that you are so relieved to start this part of your journey.

I am crying tears of joy!!

We will continue to pray for you! Please let me know if you need any help with the girls, even if you just want to take a nap!!:):)

Although I don’t know you, I have been blessed to follow on your family’s journey with Ryan. I believe it was from Beth’s link on FB that I came here. I’m rejoicing with you in this “Ebenezer”. God bless you in the rest of your journey.

I am happy to find this blog with Ryan approaching his 3rd birthday. It saddens me when Doctors are so quick to dismiss any possibility of divine intervention and are so quick to suggest you terminate a pregnancy.
