40-day Easter Journey – Day 13

March 3, 2015/Faith

Slide03

What is our foundation?

Luke 6:46-49 And why do you call Me, Lord, Lord and do not do what I say? Everyone who comes to me and hears My words, and acts upon them, I will show you whom he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation up on the rock; and when a flood rose, the torrent burst against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built. But the one who has heard and has not acted accordingly is like a man who built a house upon the ground without any foundation; and the torrent burst against it and immediately it collapsed, and the ruin of that house was great.

God gives us His word to help protect us from sin’s destruction. He doesn’t give us commandments so we don’t have fun in life or to make us social outcasts. Those who ignore the wisdom of the Word of God eventually find themselves on shaky ground paying the consequences for their ungodly decisions and actions. When life gets hard, a life built on something other than the Word of God falls down.

Activity: Place a good-sized flat rock inside a small plastic sorting bin. Build a simple structure with wooden blocks on the rock;

Place a small pile of sand in a plastic sorting bin then build a simple structure with wooden blocks on the pile of sand. (this should be a loose pile of sand).

Pour enough water into the basin that it displaces the sand, or comes almost to the top of the rock. The water should not touch the blocks. Which one is more stable? (the displaced sand should spread into the rest of the basin and the block tower should fall, if it stood up in the first place.)
