Adam and Dottie had their reception at the curling club where Adam is a member. You may have seen curling during the winter olympics. It’s kindof like shuffleboard on ice.
Natalie, Ainsley and Ryan just inside the club.

Her theme was modern rustic. She and a friend made Christmas ornaments in the wedding colors for guests to take home. They were inside wire baskets in the middle of the tables. My step-father, Neil, cut tree rounds for the base of the centerpiece.  Dottie took washed out wine bottles, painted chalkboard labels on them, then filled them with tea and lemonade for the tables. There were also carafes of water.

I meant to take a picture after the food was laid out and forgot (silly me). Because the reception was informal (curling events to come!), the food was soup and hot ham, turkey or roast beef sandwiches. It was the perfect meal for a chilly afternoon! The soup tureens sat on these tree rounds with the shepherd’s hooks over top. The chalkboard menu listed the choices.

They also had a table of local specialty sodas for guests to try.

Dottie was so happy I couldn’t stop looking at her.

Mom and Neil

Ryan and Buddy, his cousin. These two were the only little boys at the wedding. They had a ball wrestling and chasing each other.

Listening to a toast.

 Natalie and Lexi, her cousin.

They went with a vintage dessert table… I love this idea!
Cutting the cake.

We all waited to see if they’d smear cake all over each other. They were very civilized. Adam did smear a little icing on her cheek at the end, but it was in such a chivalrous way!

Next up: Learning to Curl.
