We had a birthday party on Saturday for Natalie’s fifth birthday. We invited several families that we hang out with a lot, but most were down for the count with strep or H1N1, so we cordially uninvited them. However, there were some family and friends who were able to make it still and Natalie was soooo excited. She’s been wanting to have a party complete with guests for months now and her dream finally came true. Henry took her Saturday morning to get balloons for all the kids who were coming to take home with them at the end.

“When are they coming, mom?”
“In about 15 minutes.”
“Come on, Ains. Let’s wait for our guests.”
(them, waiting for the guests)
This is my favorite picture of the day…. waiting for the cake
Angelina Ballerina in all her cakey goodness… when I asked Natalie which piece she wanted she said, “The skirt.”   “Which part of the skirt?” I asked. “All of it.” she said.
Opening the presents…. the kids all wanted a front row seat. Natalie didn’t mind at all. In fact, after she opened them all she held up her new Barbie pet salon and said in her best teacher voice, “Who wants to play with my new toy first?”  I was shocked. I mentioned something to her later saying, “I noticed how you shared your new toy with the other kids. That was so sweet of you.”  She said matter-of-factly, “That’s because I’m five now and five year olds share.”
Sunday afternoon Henry, Uncle Ryan, Ainsley and Natalie sat down to play Oceanopoly. Overheard –
Henry: “Okay, everyone gets $1500.
Ainsley: “Me want pink, me want pink.”  (the $5 bill is pink)
Henry: “You can have pink. And, uh, why don’t you let Uncle Ryan be on your team to help you out.”
Ainsley: “Okay. Me want pink.”
Ainsley showing me the money.
Happy Birthday, Natalie. We love you and are so proud of you!

I enjoyed visiting your blog today and reading more about Ryan and your family. The birthday post reminded me of the cupcakes last week. I asked Natalie if she wanted to share the cupcakes with her buddy’s class. She said,” oh yes! She would like that and it is good to share.”

Then yesterday as the class was leaving the room, she came back to turn off the lights. “It’s not my job today, but it’s good to save electricity.”

    So wise, your Natalie!
