The Pittsburgh Steelers played the Denver Broncos yesterday in the AFL playoffs. I say that for anyone who might not follow football and needs the back story.

“Let’s watch the game today so we can be socially relevant,” I said to Henry as we drove home from church. I wasn’t being funny. These ‘Burghers eat, sleep and breathe football.
Later at a preschool open house the lady giving me the tour said, “You watching the game today?” Boy was I glad I asked Henry what time the game was. “Yep, sure am.” I answered nonchalantly. “4:30, right?”
See, socially relevant.
It won’t end there. I’m sure there will be talk tomorrow if I’m out and about. So I watched the game. And I found myself rooting for the Steelers. Seriously. I think I might be a bonafide Yinzer and I’ve only been here for five months! Whoot! Whoot!
The Steelers were up early in the game, but Tebow did what he does best. There’s been a lot of criticism that Tebow runs the ball too much… that perhaps he isn’t that great at throwing. Yesterday he didn’t seem to have any problems throwing the ball. He won the game on the first possession of overtime by throwing a sweet pass to his boy Thomas up the middle who ran about 50 yards for a touchdown. And boy can Thomas run.
But wait. If I were totally honest, there was something nice about seeing Tebow win. He’s such a nice guy.
Maybe I still need a few months to be a total Yinzer… I don’t think they’re happy at all that Tebow won.

You are right, Tebow does seem like such a nice guy. It’s uplifting to see the underdog win. For the first time ever though, I was actually rooting for the Steelers to win. They had a better chance of beating the Pats next weekend. Since I am a Ravens fan, I want us to beat the Texans this weekend and then have the Pats lose. That would mean a championship game in good ol’ Balmar!

    Leighann…You are cute!

I am not a sports fan…but my husband is. He watched the game. He has always liked the Broncos. We used to live inn Denver.

I like that Tebow is a Christian and is bold in his faith.

But like I said…I am not into sports. I do like to watch golf with my husband…and it is good to take a nap when it is on! ha!

    Love ya,
