Date Night Revisited

May 8, 2009/Miscellaneous

Henry and I went to dinner the other night with Ryan in tow for the first time. It was interesting to say the least. First, our waitress was a hoot. She made several comments that had us wetting our pants (us figuratively, Ryan literally). One was when she asked me if I liked the tomatillo sauce. I responded by saying, it was okay, but I preferred my meal without it. She said, “Oh, like liver. People eat it, but prefer not to.”

Tomatillo sauce like liver?
Liver?
The highlight of the evening was when I went to the restroom to change Ryan’s diaper. I somehow managed to get the end of his feeding tube caught in the car seat and rip the entire thing, tape and all, off his face and out of his nose. Nice, mom. After coming down off my shock and soothing my son whose cheek had just been waxed, I began cleaning up the snot that came out with the tube.
It gets better.
After returning to my seat, I’m chatting with my dear hubby when I see something out of the corner of my eye. I reach down to pull what I think is rice out of my hair and instead grab a small ball of snot. Even nicer, mom.
Actually, I take it all back, the highlight was when after smelling my son’s crotch to see if he had pooped his pants, I realized I had done it sitting at a table – IN PUBLIC!
What was the highlight of your day?

You and Henry are so blessed to have such a great sense of humor to get you through all of these happenings. I could “hear” your voice in your writing and you made me laugh!

We all need to look at these “fun” times of being a parent with the same humble, funny, savoring, and honest attitude.

Jeez Leighann, how vulgar! Is that how a lady talks? ;P hehe It was so nice to see you today and to finally meet Ryan! He is a precious little man, and Kim was jealous.

I’m just catching up on your blog and I LOVE this post. The part about holding up Ryan and sniffing his crotch…I did that all the time with my kids, not realizing when I was in public and when I wasn’t. In fact, I still do that with the little one, even though he’s over 1 year old! NICE!
