Cath Update

May 23, 2011/Ryan

Ryan is sleeping nicely with the help of sedatives in the PACU, aka the recovery room. The cardiologist didn’t have to do any intervention during the cath today which was a surprise to all of us. We thought for sure he’d have some collaterals that needed coiled off or that his PAs might need ballooned. Instead, they just took pictures and pressures and were done. Whoo hooo!!!! This means we get to go home around dinner time instead of staying for observation. I’m thrilled.

The only negative is that his heart pressure is still measuring high… at 22 instead of the acceptable 15. His heart muscle is stiff… always has been. We will play with his meds to see if we can get it to relax, but there isn’t really much else to be done. With pressures this high he’s not a candidate for the Fontan, but he’s nowhere close to needing it right now so we have time for his pressures to come down.
For now we are thankful his heart is functioning well enough that it didn’t need any tweaks today. Yea!
Thanks for praying.

I am glad that they didn’t have to do anything and that he gets to go home.

I hope the heart pressure goes down when they work with the medicine.

John and I will be praying.

    Love you,
    Linda
