Traveling anytime soon?

September 28, 2010/Product Review

Some of you may remember Henry and I went away for a weekend in August. We headed south to Asheville, NC to relax and reconnect. It was much needed and much enjoyed.

While in Asheville, we stayed in a wonderful boutique hotel called the Princess Anne. A hotel in the 1920s, the building has been used as a hospital, a training facility, apartments, retirement home and now a hotel again. It’s absolutely charming!

We showed up late on our night of arrival having skipped dinner. At check in, the innkeeper asked if wanted a glass of wine. I said something like, “Well, we haven’t really eaten dinner yet so maybe we shouldn’t.” Her response was, “Well then, how about some cheese, crackers, fruit and champagne?”

The service was like this all weekend. Breakfast consisted of options off of beautifully printed menus, which changed daily. Henry and I ate things like vegetable frittatta, savory breakfast crepes, and french toast all accompanied by sausage and fresh fruit. In the afternoons from 4:30 – 6, they have complimentary wine and hors d’oeurves that are very yummy.

We drove away from the Princess Anne remarking how wonderful our stay was and how we would come back in a heartbeat. Seriously, if you are ever in the Asheville area, please seek out the Princess Anne. You won’t regret it.

You just don’t know how much you need those getaways until you actually are on them. So glad you got to go and the place looks lovely.
