Today is the Day!

November 5, 2009/Ryan
Ryan is still holding his own off the CPAP machine. He continues to have high flow oxygen support on a setting of 12 liters/hour at 80%.  His x-ray looks good – even better than before with his right lung showing good air flow. His O2 saturations are sitting in the mid 70s and PO2s in the 30s. Perfect!  They hope to wean his high flow to 10 liters/hour at 60%.
I’m excited because today is the day the girls are allowed to return to Ryan’s bedside. They are so excited. When I told Natalie she said, “Did you tell Ainsley the news? Did you tell her yet?”  Nope, I said. “We have to tell her now!” she said and ran from the room to find Ainsley.
Here are a few pictures and videos for your viewing enjoyment…
Ryan devented (is that a word?) and looking pretty.

Dressed in his big boy clothes.

Falling asleep with mommy.
Sorry you have to listen to two minutes of me talking, but if you’re patient, you will see Ryan smile twice!

Poor boy has to wear clothes and sit up in the same day. His face was kind of pitiful when he had to sit up. He looks so big in clothes. How much is he weighing now? Loved all the pictures and both videos.
So happy you and the girls get to visit ryan TOGETHER!! What a happy day! Ryan will be happy to see his girls again.
    Love you.

Oh I am so glad he is doing so well AND gets his sisters back too! Happy day! And oh those long eyelashes…they get me everytime!

amazing attentiveness — his eyes never once deviated from you, he didn’t disengage — that’s got to be heartwarming. And the smiles, though brief, reached all the way to his eyes & eyebrows. Beautiful baby; thank you for showing him in action on his big “devented” day.

It has been a bit since I could check it – can’t tell you how it makes my heart smile to see Mr. Ryan sitting up in his big boy close – not intubated! – and looking so incredibly handsome! (That photo a couple days ago in his Halloween t-shirt is precious!!)

Your blog – your family, the girls and precious Ryan – are always such an encouragement and blessing!! Praying for all you every day….

Yeah Ryan! Looking good. Ya know He is a perfect blend of you and your hubby..So the nerd side of me wants to know what all his tubes and IV’s are, especially the ones on his cute little toes. Are those for oxygen levels and temp?
I love that the girls line things up like mine. Fruit, books, those little doll clothes, ponies doesn’t matter it has to be in a perfect line. So good to see the clan back together.

I just clicked over from Conversion Diary and when I saw the picture of Ryan with the cannula, I thought, Wow, I need to go exploring this site!

I have a 2 1/2 year old with Down’s (in the hospital as I type, as a matter of fact), so I know a lot of what you’re talking about…but we haven’t gone through anything like what you have, just from skimming things. God bless you all!
