Read this the other day and can’t get it out of my head:

“He (God) has more of a right to ask us why so many people are starving.”
Francis Chan, emphasis mine
“Crazy Love”

I hear people question why God lets people starve…. yet there is enough food in the world to feed everyone. Here are some ways you can share with those less fortunate this holiday season.

heifer donation    goat donation  chicken donation
Heifer $500 Goat $120 Chicks $20

With Heifer International you can give gifts both large and small that will help a family or village sustain life through raising animals. They also have the option of buying a share of a larger animal if that is what you want to donate, but do not have the funds to donate the entire amount (i.e., donate $20 toward a heifer).

Build a school $22K Child’s education $32 10 Fruit trees $60

World Vision is known for their programs for sponsoring children in developing countries. Their organization offers so many more ways to contribute than I ever knew. From helping to build a school, buying a clean-venting stove, offering microfinancing, and purchasing animals and education for families, World Vision is impacting the less fortunate across the globe. There is even an option for helping to purchase school supplies for children in the USA.

Charity Water uses 100% of every dollar donated to drill wells in areas where clean water is scarce. You can donate in any increment which makes it easy to fit any budget. $20 buys water for one person for 25 years making it easy to make a big impact with a small budget.

I’m sure there are a ton of other organizations out there worth donating to. If you have one to share, please feel free to put it in the comments. Merry Christmas!

Compassion International is a great organization.
They work within the community when you sponsor.
When we send “extra money” they help the family buy tools to provide for themselves. We sent money to the child we sponsor and they were guided to buy bowls to sell to earn the money. Here is the website.

Samaritan’s Purse has a great gift catalog. All year round you can donate a shoebox full of gifts to be delivered to a child in need all over the World including America.
They also have a gift catalog that has prices for donations that can help a mother and her baby get care, giving baby chicks to a family, or help a child receive hospital care. 52 gift options. We love to pick out one a year that our family can do. Here is the website. http://www.samaritanspurse.org/

OK I have one more favorite!

Like Compassion they work within the community
instead of providing a handout. They empower the communities to fight against Aids, full scale projects such as Integrated Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene. Its just amazing what people can do when they have hope! All it takes is just a little from each.

Hmmm maybe I should put this on my blog now that I have written a post right here. 🙂
    Blessing to you!

I’ve become a World Vision believer in just the last few months. They do so much with the money they get from sponsors and donors. I am so excited to see how my sponsored child’s life will change with so little sacrifice in my part.

I love that you’re promoting this even in midst of YOUR crazy life situation. You’re amazing! God is amazing!

My favorite is the blog called “The Journey”! (www.kissesfromkatie.blogspot.com)

It is about a remarkable 21 year old girl named Katie who is in Uganda running a ministry called Amazima. You can donate to this organization and it will help clothe, feed and educate Ugandan children who have nothing. She has adopted 13 Ugandan girls and feeds, doctors, clothes and ministers to hundreds, if not thousands, more. If anybody has time to read her blog from when she first left the US 2 years ago to now, you will be truly amazed at what Katie has accomplished and how inspiring she is. She is special!

Kelli – how could I forget about Samaritan’s Purse? They also have educational programs for adults. I like that one.

Wendy – I read Katie’s blog too. Love her!
