Three Things You Don’t Know About Me

July 14, 2009/Blog Hop
This is hard, because most of you know me, and some of you have known me forever, but I’ll try to mix it up a little.
1) I was born in Washington, DC. Yes, there are people who are actually born there. And contrary to a certain Texan’s belief, although DC is not a state, those of us born there are United States citizens. I have a passport to prove it.
2) My husband and I met our sophomore year of high school. He was 14 (October baby) and I was at least two weeks into my 15th year. Hard to believe, I know, but we’ve known each other longer than we didn’t know each other.
3) I was not a traditional college student. Because I married young and Henry had scholarship restrictions, I worked a 40-50 hr. office job while going to school at night and studying on the weekends. I majored in Non-fiction Writing and Editing (please ignore all my typos!) hoping to one day become a print journalist and minored in WWII history. It was a toss up between WWII and Russian history. I was always fascinated with pre-communist Russia with all the czars and such. I even did a high school term paper on Catherine the Great
That was more than three things, but it’s hard for a wordy person like me to only say three things. Ok, your turn!  In the comments, tell me three things about you…

    Thanks for sharing.

    Here are my three..
    1. I am Puerto Rican – although most people will tell you I don’t look it – I think I certainly do – I speak fluent spanish – because my grandparents spoke no English.
    2. I have a degree and Theater with a minor in Televison- I worked in the industry for 4 years after college – it was a love hate relationship.
    3. I never in my LIFE thought I was the marrying kind or that I would have children and the good Lord has blessed me with a wonderful husband and 4 amazing children. Maybe I should write down a things to know about me on my blog.

    3 things about myself…

    1. I love naps! I never get them anymore, and wish I could go back to childhood and willingly take the ones my parents tried to enforce.

    2. I love Fall. The crispness of the air and the beautiful colors are very pleasing to my soul.

    3. I love the ocean. I have only been to the ocean a few times as an adult, but the sound of the waves and the seagulls lulls me to sleep…that is when when I don’t have kids with me.

Like the post….nice to learn some new things about you! Um, it’s hard to decide which 3 to tell about myself but I’ll try.

    1. I have allergies to just about everything imaginable it seems, including being allergic to my husband and having to be treated for it!(sounds hard to believe I know but I promise it’s true)

    2. I opted for having our second child naturally at a birthing house with a midwife, but was suprised when I ended up needing to push while in the birthing tub and couldn’t get out. I honestly was scared to death that she would drown before we could get her out of the water! (not knowing before hand that their lungs don’t start ‘working’ until they’re completely out)

    3. I can’t roll my tongue up on the sides which drives the rest of my family crazy for some reason.(I’m sure there are others who can’t either, but not in our family!lol) The kids are always doing it and saying, “Try momma, try it again!” And then they look at me in disbelief when I fail once more!

Hope things are going good and you have a great rest of the week!

I pray for Ryan regularly … stumbled across your story blog hopping! I have also linked your praying for Ryan on my page!

    3 things about me …

    1. I’m a country girl who works outside the home, but would really like to be at home (even though all my kids are in school now) I would love to be the Mommy who made chocolate chip cookies this afternoon for them to eat as soon as they got off the bus

    2. Stress gets the best of me … I know it does … I try not to let it … but it still does … and have actually had medical issues because of it.

    3. I want the things for my kids that I never had … or was told “no” when I was a kid. I will give up everything just to give them a small taste of what I missed (or thought I missed) out on as a child. Therefore, it seems like I am continually running in every direction.

So cool that you were actually born “here”….seems everyone I meet is from somewhere else – and most of the time, they want to go back!! Go figure. I was born in Virginia but not Northern Virginia..but I’ve been here forever!

Absolutley LOVE LOVE that picture of Ryan on your button!!! Did you take that? He was precious..of course..today when I was at the hospital but I always seem to be there at lunch time.

I did play a mean game of Uno Attack, though, with a girl on another floor! 🙂 What a fun game! Hope to see you there again sometime (well, actually – I know you’d much rather Ryan just get to come home!) 🙂

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

Okay this will be hard because we grew up together, but here goes:

    1. I clean way too much, I cleaned 18 bathrooms in one day this past spring, and I am now an expert floor stripper.

    2. I really wanted our second child to be a girl and was devistated when I found out he was a boy, even cried. It all worked out though, he is my heart.

    3. I am the product of a man with a vesectomy(that obviously did not work:)) and I am also a DC baby and my father delivered me. (You probably already knew this:))

By the way cute picture of Ryan. He is still in our prayers. Since the kids saw him at your mom’s they really connect everything now when we pray. LOL Amanda Luhn
