Things you should know.

June 26, 2014/Confessions of a SAHM

I have never done so many loads of towels in my life. Swim team plus daily showers for my kids. What is this world coming to?

I don’t know how to relax. (shocker) I’ve been trying all week and have yet to do so. My head is so full of things that need done I’m fidgety when I sit down. I HAVE to keep moving but I’m not sure how much I’m really getting done. Hate this feeling.

Weeding never takes 5 minutes. I’ve worked in the yard at some point each day during the last three days. I get out of the car and think, I’ll just XYZ. In my head XYZ is going to take 5 minutes. It’s averaging an hour or more and sore muscles. So far I weeded the veggie patch, pruned three large shrubs, and weeded several beds that just needed “quick” cleaning up. I hold serious resentment toward Adam and Eve.

I decided what color to paint my bedroom. It’s been eating at me all week. I think that’s one reason for the restlessness. I saw an inspiration photo in Better Homes and Gardens a few weeks ago and decided on the spot I wanted to paint the walls a warm beige – – like a golden beige, but not yellow. But yellow is not my thing… even if it calls itself beige. I ruled out cream too. I’ll have to take a picture when it’s done…. I’m shooting for a brown/gray compromise. I feel much better.

Piper slept through the night 3 nights in a row. Ainsley and Ryan did not. Dagnabbit.

In two more days we have family arriving for the weekend. Yeah!

We’re into our second week of summer. I have yet to get us into the routine I had in my head so I’m giving it up. I consider this progress.

I’m off to buy bedroom paint, then to read Catch 22 I’ve only had it out of the library for 8 weeks. I’m hoping to finish by it’s due date of July 1. I think 9 wks is long enough to read one book.

The end.

My suggestion for how to see how much you’ve done? Take a note pad and write down the jobs you do instead of the ones you need to do. At the end of the day you can sigh with satisfaction on how much you’ve accomplished today!! ~~ It sounds like you’re doing great:)

Heather is one smart lady… that sounds good to me too!

Good job on all that you have gotten done and on picking a paint color. Can’t wait to see it 😉 It’s going to look great!

I’m the only one who cares about weeds at our apt so I end up weeding even though it’s not our place but just because it looks way better!

Good job, Piper! Sorry about the other two munchkins ;/

Ok here’s the deal with swim team, towels, and showers…Beach towels (as well as all the layers of sweats they wear on the cool nights) get thrown into the dryer when you get home each day and get reused more than once before they are laundered…kids don’t need a Downy fresh towel every time they get out of the chlorinated water just a dry one…If you are feeling generous, you can throw a Bounce sheet in to freshen them up….Also my kids had to take a bottle of shampoo and conditioner and dry clothes (pajama pants and T-shirts work just fine) with them in their swim bag and they were required to hit the shower at the pool after their last race was over. This saved on additional towels at home and makes for less work cleaning their bathroom. Sometimes I made them bring their tooth brush as well so they were ready to plop into bed when we got home…#switeammomhacks

We all use the same shower towel for a week before they get washed. Of course we make sure they get hung up to dry thoroughly so we don’t have stinky towels! And summer routine?? What’s THAT? I feel like my house is ruled by the little ones. 6 weeks til school starts… 😉

hope you are not buried under stacks of laundry and that you are just super busy and that is why you are on “blogging vacation”
Just saying hello = good tips about swimming. My kids also showered at the pool – which saved on water bills, My mom had four of us and she said she was running all time.
