The Blizzard of 2010

February 6, 2010/Miscellaneous

They are saying we are getting a blizzard. The snow started this morning at 9:30 a.m. and didn’t start sticking to the roads until after lunch. Looks like there is between 5 and 7 inches out there now with predictions of 24″ by the time it’s over. Henry came home early – I picked him up in my 4×4 at 3 p.m. He was stir crazy by 7 p.m. and took the girls to the store. They just came back with two bags of chips, a package of double-stuffed Oreos and several special beverages. These are things I don’t buy b/c I’m the crazy health-nut mom. To make clear, I am going to help devour them though.

As they kept taking treat after treat from the bags, I said, “Wow, you guys got a ton of stuff.”
“Yeah,” Henry said. “I figured we are going to be here awhile.”
I laughed. “It’s supposed to be two days. It’s not really that long. And it’s the weekend. You are usually home on the weekends anyway!”
Just sayin’. There’s something about snow that makes people crazy!

You are killing ! I am laughing so hard. Since we are from Baltimore and have lived in South Bend where we had 3 ft of snow before Thanksgiving one year it is funny to see what snow does to the brain. I miss being up there when that kind of snow is falling, it really is fun to be snowed in:)Down here in Charlotte the 3 inches they got last weekend shut the city down… you would go nuts! School was closed on Monday for no reason at all. I am postign our Mountain Snow pictures from last weekend right now. It will take all weekend, doing it in shifts… we got a small storm there and it was fun. Totally stuck on a mountain with nothing to do but sled and drink hot chocolate. Have a fun weekend and post us some pictures!

I agree that it is actually kind of nice being snowed in every now and then! It’s so quiet and calm all around and you can just cuddle up and be cozy! But–we are a little more used to it in Idaho than the east coast. (although this year your side of the country is getting all of the snow!) It takes SERIOUS snow to keep people home here!

I live in the Baltimore area and went to Target yesterday morning at 8am (my daughter was throwing up, I went to get some pedialyte and gatorade). It was NUTS . . . as busy as Christmas!! Plus the milk was completely gone. Good thing I didn’t need any!.

My brother Aron used to live in Las Vegas. One year they got ONE inch of snow . . . completely shut down the whole city. Hehe

we are snowed in here too. Now I do occassionally buy junk for my kids but ONLY when i know they can run off all that extra sugar. snowed in with mounds of sugar might backfire…lol. That being said, it was my mom’s birthday yesterday we have 2 GIGANTIC cakes here that could literally feed 50 people each…lol. I will be going crazy here for sure soon!

No fair wish we got snow. Living in Texas you hardly see it, But we did get a white Christma eve which was hard to believe. It was crazy that day in the Dallas/ Ft worth area it didn’t last too long we were back up in the 50’s by Christmas day. Enjoy your weekend!

Hope you are able to get out of your community. We cleared our driveway, but our streets have not been plowed…it may be three or four days before we see a plow!
