Shakespeare, Kindergarten Style

June 14, 2010/Natalie

Natalie’s school puts on a Shakespeare Festival every year where the K-4 does songs and Shakespearian recitations, the 5-6th graders do a play and the 7-8th graders do a play. It is very, very cute.

The kindergarten and 1st grade doing a song and dance.

In between the two plays (The Tempest and Comedy of Errors, this year) there is a Mayfair. It is basically a renaissance festival for kids. There was archery, fencing, a stockade, quill pen making, sachet making, corn husk doll making, and rustic snacks (ham and cheddar sandwiches, apples, grapes, and water). It was a lot of fun!

Ainsley writing with the quill pen she just made…

Natalie trimming down the arms of her corn husk doll.

Ainsley and her doll… I made her doll for her, but she was very specific on how small she wanted it. She asked me several times to make the arms shorter.

After watching an entertaining rendition of Comedy of Errors, Henry and I took the girls to the local town center to enjoy the beautiful evening. (Ryan was home with a nurse.)

They played in the fountain…

Hung around the light pole with a new friend…
Watched Daddy make a coin disappear….
Had fun with daddy….
And pled their case for ice cream (since it’s so hot we need to get ice cream)….
We had a great day. I’m already looking forward to next year.

oh my goodness that is so incredibly cool. Looks like you had a great day!!!!

I thought of you, for the past 14 days I have been doing the P90… not the P90x…but the P90. I can handle that right now…with being out of shape… and it is doable. 🙂 Hopefully I can be with it for the next couple of months! In 3 weeks I have lost 6.6 pounds. So thankful. I am also doing Weight Watchers.

Oh and I tried the strawberries tonight you blogged about, but our strawberries are so small, I got barely anything in them, so I also dipped them in chocolate and that was an awesome treat… and I counted my points for them! YUM

The more you share about the girls school makes me think they follow Charlotte Mason teachings. Not sure if you remember , but we talked about CM teachings when our girls were babies. I remember reading more about it because of your suggestion.. Anyway I am diving more and more into her teachings and have really enjoyed them and have applied many methods. Natalie looks like she is doing well and enjoying every minute! 🙂
