Ryan is still in the CICU awaiting transfer to the HKU (Heart and Kidney Unit – step down from the Cardiac ICU). His O2 sats are sitting low and we think it is simply because he is uncomfortable from yesterday’s surgery.
He is on heavy pain meds (morphine and oxycotin) so he can rest comfortably. He’s also getting minimal supplemental oxygen through a nasal cannula to keep his sats at an acceptable level.
We thought we would be going home today (way earlier than previously thought), but it looks like we will be here a day or two longer.
Meanwhile, here is a little eye candy for you. This is Ryan the other night looking at his NG tube after having pulled it out of his nose.
thank you for the picture. we will keep praying for Ryan. Poor baby has already endured a lot already. He is a tough little man! i already voted today. where do you stand now?
As much as I love that picture….I’m hoping not to see Aron doing that anytime soon (unless he is ready to have it out for good….the last time it was put back in it took 3 very tough tries)! Hang in there! I always think it is tougher when they tempt you with a “short” stay and it turns out to be a bit longer….frustrating at best! Encouraging the thought of moving to HKU….going in the right direction!
Sara ps. BTW….I hate sitting down in a warm public seat as well…almost as much as showering in a public shower!
He is so cute. That expression is to die for and all so familiar. I came across ur blog through Judy. I also happen to work at a childrens hospital on a NICU step down unit and mom/baby. That look of innocence and pure joy as they yank out that tube is very familiar. I also have a friend who has an 18 month old with the same heart condition. I have been reading for a while and just know that u have a very special family and I enjoy reading. Hope all continues to go well and no little mishaps to slow the process of going home soon. U are in my thoughts and prayers. Lindsey
i’m glad the surgery went well, sorry to hear he’s still needing the O2! i hope you’ll be able to go home soon, you are all in my prayers. (i love that you’re in 5th place right now. so excited!)

I will be praying for his comfort and O2 levels. My son was always pulling out his OG tube and looking at it like that. LOL
Love the pic! Praying for his comfort and continued recovery!
