Look, Mom, No Hands!

March 9, 2010/Ryan

This is the back of Ryan’s head. It is large and flat and he has a fat neck, I know. But the real significance of this photo is that he is supporting himself sitting up by placing his arm on my leg. I don’t know if you can tell, but his body isn’t really touching my leg, just his sweet little arm.

THIS IS HUGE, PEOPLE!

Here is the front view with the help of my in-house photographer, Natalie:
He has started almost sitting up the last few weeks and around here we are pretty excited about it. He is just over twelve months and has only been home two months. In those two months he went from lying still on a mat to rolling to both sides (albeit very rarely to his right side), sitting up with arm support, and putting pressure on his feet for a few seconds (he used to tuck them up under himself at the slightest pressure). Oh and how could I forget – limited tummy time as posted here!

Look at him looking at Natalie.

“What’s the big deal, mom?”

For the sake of full disclosure, the reason the above pictures are cropped so close is so you can’t see the state of my house! I look so serious in this picture because I am telling Ainsley to sit in time out for not getting out of the way of the camera. Don’t I look stern?

Ainsley wanted to take a picture of Ryan too. Here is her version.
Incidentally, Ryan is headed downtown tomorrow for a modified barium swallow. It will tell us how aggressive we can be in teaching him to eat by mouth. I hope to have a full update for you on Thursday.

How wonderful it is to see Ryan doing so well and he looks so happy.
My Mom told me a long time ago “that your children will not remeber you for your clean house but that will remember all the love you give them”
Ryan is developing so well because you invest so much in him. I think deserve a house cleaner at least once a week to help you and give more time to invest in your children.

Way to go Ryan!! The messy house will soon be forgotten but special times and milestones like these with Ryan are ….priceless.. Enjoy the kids when they’re small, they grow up so quickly! I’ve been peeking in for a while now but not sure if I’ve ever commented. Hi I’m Heather 🙂
