It’s her party….

Happy Birthday, Ainsley!!

Sunday was Ainsley’s fifth birthday. We celebrated on Saturday with our extended families. Last year she asked me for a cake with a rainbow and a birdie on top. I thought that sounded a little boring so made her a wonderful butterfly cake. When she saw it she said, “Hey, where’s my rainbow cake with a birdie?” About a month ago she started saying, “Don’t forget I want a rainbow cake with a birdie.”
I got the picture this year. She got a cake with a rainbow and birdie (which she said looked like a frog) on it.
She loved the cake, but was even more excited when we cut it open. She didn’t expect a rainbow to be inside. This cake has been floating around the internet for the last year and as soon as I saw it knew I had to include it on her birthday menu.
I continued the rainbow theme by stringing balloons around the room….

Having very colorful food…
And making jello cup rainbows. (Note: the recipe says to use 1/4 cup of each color. This was too much… if I do this again, I will use 1/8 cup per color. It also says each layer takes 15 minutes to chill. It lies. And they were as much a hit with the adults as with the kids. Who knew…)
My sister, Christine, (right) made cake balls. They were delicious. (that is my sister, Katie, on the left)
Natalie and Ryan helped Ainsley open her gifts. (Please don’t ask me why Ainsley is wearing a pj top, pj pants and a skirt over top… with her hair left undone. I guess I was busy setting up for the party. )
Daddy brought in a new bike for the birthday girl.
We love you, Ainsley!

No way…Our little Ainsley is 5 now? Wow! Time sure flies by here in blogland.

I am glad she got her rainbow cake! Cute Idea. You went to a lot of work to make all of the rainbow food items!

How fun that daddy bought her a bike.

Love her outfit…she is a free spirit!

    Oh…and your sisters are cute!

    Have a great week!
