Yesterday, Ryan had a field trip to a local farm. I’m realizing that in his vocabulary farm and barn are two totally different concepts. I’m actually not sure he knows what a farm is. So in his words, yesterday we went to a barn.
He was very concerned about the hay ride and where the tractor driver was going to be, and where we were going. But seriously, those cheeks make up for all the anxiety.
After listening to how strawberry plants grow, we gathered in the barn to pet some animals. I noticed how distractible my son is….
He decided he didn’t want to hold the baby chick or duckling, only pet them.
He also decided he wanted nothing to do with the calf, kids, or lambs….. so he stood in the doorway waiting for me to pet the little critters.
We then headed outside to see the mama animals and what do you know, the sheep from Charlotte’s Web made an appearance.
And this ugly thing…. really, it’s so ugly it made me want to give up pork.
But not so much that it stopped me from making up some bacon for BLT sandwiches. And while I was at it, I stole a piece of bacon to wrap around a date for the perfect appetizer.
Yum! Great way to start lunch. The BLT wasn’t too shabby either. Oink!

Leighann, you made me giggle a few times here in your post. I LOVE the Babe movie, and so the sheep picture reminded me of that movie as well as Charlotte’s Web! 🙂 I agree that the hog is kinda ugly…and I have eaten wild boar before, and they are terribly ugly…so it brought back that memory for me. (I will never ever eat wild boar again!!! I was sick all night afterwards!) BUT…I do like me some pork chops and pork loin roasts once in awhile and I eat bacon two or three times a year! I would never have thought about a bacon wrapped date though. Was it tasty? 🙂
Little Ryan is so cute. I am glad he “went to a barn”…and got to see all of the animals! Even if he really wasn’t sure about holding some of them! 🙂 I wish we lived close so I could kiss those sweet cheeks of his!
Love, Momma Linda
