HIndsight is 20/20

July 20, 2009/Miscellaneous
There is this girl I know… she is about five and a half feet tall and has three adorable kids. You might know her or at least feel like you do.

Last year she did something crazy insane – she joined an adult basketball league after thirteen years of not playing. And I don’t mean like not playing organized ball, I mean like not playing at all. She will admit to playing a game of knock-out at her younger sister’s high school graduation party two years ago, but that doesn’t really count.
When she joined the league, she debated whether to invest in a pair of basketball shoes. The season was only eight weeks and well, who wants to spend a bunch of money on shoes that will only be worn eight times. She wore her running shoes instead.
She signed up for the league again this spring. Her team did really well. They were 7-1. She was very excited to be playing again and loved that her team was winning. It made her feel like a winner.
She signed up for the league in the summer. It started two weeks ago. Last night, she regretted not having bought the basketball shoes or wearing her ankle braces from high school.
This is her right ankle:

This is her left ankle:
This is that girl being helped into her car after the game:
Her oldest daughter said, “Do you know how to hopscotch?  Now, you’ll have to do that to get around.”
Her youngest just cried and said, “I don’t want to see mommy’s ankle.”
Her son has no idea his mommy his hobbling around, but is cranky from his reflux.
I sure hope she feels better soon!

So sorry about your ankle! I hope it feels better soon! But I must say, for an adult basketball team that only plays 8 games you gave some mighty impressive uniforms!! 🙂
