First Day of School 2010

September 8, 2010/Natalie

Tuesday was Natalie’s first day of First Grade! I am so not ready mentally for school to start, but guess what, it’s not waiting around for me to be ready. Natalie on the other hand jumped out of bed this morning and was so excited to get ready for school.

Her excitement continued through breakfast and as we loaded up into the car. She told Ainsley how great first grade is because you get to take home eggs (they watch peeps or ducklings hatch in the spring and each have a turn babysitting the eggs overnight).

(leaving for school)

It wasn’t until we were almost to school she started saying she wasn’t sure she wanted to go. I gave her a little pep talk and told her she’d do great.

(pausing to smile)

She fussed when I dropped her, but one of the administrators walked her to the doors to help calm her fears.

(acting happy at drop off)

When I picked her up she excitedly told me about her day. She told me, “First grade is easier than Kindergarten. We didn’t have to work all day!” I explained most first days of school are easy and that things would pick up in the next few days.

When I asked if she liked her teacher she said, “Mrs. V is cool!”

Hopefully she thinks Mrs. V is cool for 179 more days.

Natalie looked so grown up and so cute on her first day of First Grade!
I do hope her excitement continues.
