Embracing the Cold

January 4, 2012/The Girls
Last night was the night the girls started to skate,
On a rink in the cold ’bout a mile from a lake.
First Natalie shuffled across on the blades

Then Ains came across with no help from the aides.

Poor Ry was so cold in the fourteen degrees*
No shame as his sis couldn’t help but agree.

*I did not make little boy blue stay out in the cold. We went into the skate house and watched from the window. Ains lasted almost the entire lesson. I saw her from my perch inside come up to the side to rest. She was trying not to cry. I went out and asked her what was wrong. She said “my bum and toes hurt.” I pulled her off the ice and let her come in the ice house for the last 5 minutes… and praised her for trying something new. When Natalie came in she said, “I stopped falling and got the hang of it at the end.” She loved it.

It’s so weird seeing pictures of my hometown spots on your blog now. We must live very close!

    Burrrr! That was cold!

(I agree with Ryan…or the way he looks) You won’t find me outside in 14 degree weather!

Glad Natalie got the hang of it and enjoyed herself though.

You are such a good mother….braving the elements so that the kiddos could try something new!

    Love, Linda
