Easter Sunday at Grandma’s!

April 5, 2010/Uncategorized

We headed to my mom’s house for Easter lunch. It was our first time traveling with Ryan and it went pretty well. He did a great job in his new environment although he did get anxious a few times. When he got fussy we all left the room and let him have a little alone time with Uncle John and his guitar. After some wonderful quiet time, he fell asleep for a cat nap and woke up all better.

The cousins had a fabulous time. We hardly saw them as they ran around outside playing under pine trees and jumping on the trampoline. It reminded me of when we would all travel to my grandparents house in New York and would disappear into the woods and play under the pine trees there or play in the cemetery down the street. These are memories they will have forever.
After the cousins left, the girls and I sat down to dye Easter eggs. We usually do this activity earlier in the week, but I wasn’t able to get my rear in gear this year to get it done. I’m glad I packed the eggs and kits up to take with us because we had a really good time decorating. Ryan sat beside us and had a good time watching. Aunt Dot joined us at the end (bottom right covered by Natalie!).

Here are some other shots from the day:

John being funny.
Henry waiting for food.

We colored our eggs Easter Sunday as well. I told myself it was better this way, everyone had fun, the craft got done and I think for the kids that is the measure of a perfect holiday tradition.
Thanks for posting about the cookies…what a fabulous, tangible/tasty way to share the story.

I was really glad I had that egg dying kit in the back of my pantry all year when it occurred to me eggs needed dyeing.
