We are pretty neutral about Santa Claus in our house. Henry didn’t grow up being told about Santa – didn’t even have a tree until high school so it’s never been a thing for him. My family did do the Santa thing – to the hilt. so when we had Natalie we kindof just never brought it up.  But she learned about him at preschool and in stores.

This year Natalie handed me an envelope addressed to Santa. She asked me to mail it. I told her I would, but first I had to take a peek. I mean, really, how could I not?

Um, I was speechless. One, I don’t remember her ever mentioning wanting Emily. Two, she only put ONE thing on her list. ONE THING! And it’s an American Girl doll that’s being retired in 2 weeks. So you can guess that all retailers are out of them, which means sites like eBay and Amazon are selling them for twice the retail price. This mama don’t play that.

Normally we would not entertain getting her another AG doll but the fact that she only asked for one thing made me want to get it more than anything. So I turned to Facebook and asked around. And what do you know…. a friend found a reasonably priced Emily doll outside of Baltimore!!  What? Baltimore? I got peeps close enough to Baltimore!

Suffice it to say my dad picked up a pristine Emily doll and book (he reported it doesn’t even look like it’s been opened once) on Saturday and drove straight to the post office to ship it to us. Whut? Whut?

I can’t wait to see the look on her face on Christmas morning.

That’s a sign that you need to become a Baltimore Ravens fan and disown those nasty squealers! =) Glad you found the Emily doll. I was going to offer to send my daughter’s Emily doll. She is in pristine condition (and the book too) but of course, I don’t have the box she came in. Hope Natalie has a wonderful Christmas (and the rest of your family too).

Linda’s comment brought tears to my eyes. God does care about the little things. What a perfect example of His love, the love of a parent for a child. God bless.
