Thursday was a busy day for us. I was excited to start the day by walking to Natalie’s eye doctor appointment. I thought, “How wonderful we’re in the city and can walk instead of take the car.” Google maps said is was less than a mile so off we went: Ryan in the stroller and the girls walking along.

My shiny outlook was starting to crack about four blocks in when Ainsley started crying that her legs were tired and she didn’t want to walk. I tried to give her a little pep-talk. “I know you can do it. Come on, Ains. Not too much longer.” More crying. More pep… “Ains, I need you to pull it together.” Let me tell you, that did NOT help. She stopped in the middle of the sidewalk and sobbed. I was sweating by now in the morning sun (which by-the-way felt really good when we first left the apartment building). I shooed her onto the front of the stroller and started pushing.
The honeymoon was officially over when I realized Google maps had taken me out of the way six blocks. Seriously. Not funny.
However, we walked in the door right on time to sign Natalie in… I’ll do a whole post on her eyes when her reading glasses come in (hint: she looks completely adorable).
Leaving the doctor’s building, we realized Hines Ward was greeting fans along with his Dancing with the Stars partner Kym Johnson at the county building which just happens to be next door to Natalie’s doctor. We scooted across the parking lot and waited with cuh-ray-Z Pittsburgh fans for his appearance. It was fun to see him in person – the t.v. doesn’t lie – he has a great smile. Of course my camera was home getting recharged. Doh!
We headed home for lunch and Ryan’s nap and then headed back out to a wonderful park near our new house and played the rest of the afternoon away. Day one of our official life in Pittsburgh went pretty well I’d say.
