Because this is important

August 5, 2013/Confessions of a SAHM

Where to begin? Hmmm…. it’s been awhile. There just wasn’t anything to say OR there wasn’t the time to say it. Either way, three weeks went by in a flash and now I’m left to wonder what to say.

The first thing I’m going to say is that Kevin Max is now the lead singer of Audio Adrenaline. This is really important in the scheme of the last three weeks because is boosts my musical confidence in a highly personal way. If you’ve been around awhile you might remember I’m not very good with lyrics or knowing the names of bands. I LOVE music….  while I love listening to music there are three singers in particular I could listen to for hours: Mac Powell (Third Day), Kevin Max (DC Talk and now A2) and Erik Palmer (RBC Praise Band).

I’ve always found Mac Powell and Kevin Max to have highly distinctive voices – voices that even I can pick out of a crowd, so imagine my surprise the other day when I was driving down the road and heard a new song on the radio. “This is a really catchy song,” I thought. Then, “This sounds like Kevin Max. Could it be?” and the more I listened the more I was convinced he’d come out of the wood work after years of being under-appreciated as a solo artist.

When the DJ announced the song as an Audio Adrenaline song, I was flabbergasted. I really had convinced myself it was Kevin Max singing. His voice is soooo distinct. Upon arriving home I googled Kevin Max and A2. Turns out he became their lead singer just a few months ago. What? LOVE IT!

I especially loved it because of my terrible track record with musical stats and the fact that it was twice in ONE week I recognized a singer without having heard the song before. The first was after watching a movie with Henry. During the credits a song was playing that neither of us recognized (big deal when it comes to Henry, every day occurrence with me). I said, “If I didn’t know any better, I’d think this was Jack White singing. It’s not his typical style, but I could swear that’s his voice.” Sure enough, it was Jack White and Alicia Keys singing a duet. I blew Henry’s socks off, and mine too!

See, told you the last three weeks were crazy around here. But for realz, we did do some fabulous sight-seeing last week that I’ll update you on just as soon as I’m done listening to Jack White and Kevin Max.
