Summer To Do – 2010

June 11, 2010/The Girls
Natalie has one more day of school and then summer is here! Ainsley is already on her second week of vacation. I’m excited to have the girls home, but a little overwhelmed with the fact they crave structure and I haven’t been very good with that lately. So this year I thought we’d give a summer ‘to do’ list a try. I saw it on my friend Courtney’s blog last year. With all we have going on I want to make sure we don’t forget to have a little fun.
Here is our list:

You will notice Natalie’s list consists of learning new things…. (she also said she wanted to learn knitting, but I have no idea how to knit and thought she had enough learning to do already!); and you can see Ainsley’s list consists of ice cream and different ways to snuggle. She threw in ‘learn to flip’ at the very end of the discussion and I put it on there, but she already knows how to flip so I’m not sure if that is considered cheating. Perhaps she’s just a girl after my heart. I’ve been known to write something on the list I already did just so I can keep track of my accomplishments!
Do you have a summer ‘to do’ list? If so, what’s on it?

I must admit, I too put things on my list that I have already done…just so I can check them off. It gives me a sense of accomplishment! Great summer list. I don’t know how you do it!

Great idea to get the kids’ input on your list. I think I will try that with my kids. It’s hard to come up with things to do during the summer, so it would really help me out.

I bet ice cream will make the list at my house too. 🙂

I made a list of things I want the kids to do this summer (just a few words changed makes a big difference). 1. daily devotions, feed and walk the dog, learn to mow the grass (Riley), cook (Reid). Some one wrote in along the bottom “have fun!”. I think it was Reid.

Oh, mine had a whole sumemr packet that had chores, new skills, bible memory verse, mostly based around reading and reading skills – each one got a folder. I used to be really organized. Seriously organized. Something happened between then and now.

If you check everything off before the end of the summer, let me know and I will come teach her to knit. Seriously, I would love to.
