February nearly killed me.

It wasn’t the cold. It wasn’t the snow. It was my crazy, busy, calendar.

I’m not exactly sure what I was thinking (clearly I wasn’t) when I committed to so many things this past month. I had an awesome balance in January between being a mom, wife, and individual. Somehow February crushed all that.

I was extremely overwhelmed. While I have a great sense of relief at seeing March come up on my calendar (all my major events are o-v-e-r), I have a feeling there won’t be much time to rest. However I’m looking forward to a quieter month. And promising myself and my family not to redo February e v e r  a g a i n. Never.

It doesn’t help that I’m adjusting to having an infant. I always have a semi-nervous-breakdown post-birth realizing how much I thought I could get done and definitely can’t because it takes time to nurse a baby and change them and coo at them and bathe them and… oh, you get the picture. But I forgot…. so I committed and thankfully wasn’t committed by the end, if ya know what I mean.

I underestimated how long it would take for my kids to adjust to me being away for a girls weekend. Boy was last Monday a bear…

And how long it would take me to do all the inviting and reminding friends about an Open House I held on Wednesday to benefit our local Children’s Hospital…. (incidentally, if you’d like to place an order with Stella and Dot or Tastefully Simple, please email me at leighann_marquiss (at) yahoo (dot) com. A portion of proceeds is being donated to our local children’s hospital in honor of Ryan’s 5th birthday!! The shows close in the next few days though so let me know asap. I can send you the party links.)

Oh yeah, and as a Girl Scout leader one of the biggest events of the year fell on Friday.

For a few days there, I felt like I was a hamster on a wheel.

But NO MORE. Welcome March! I’m looking forward to time to breathe. And sleep. And walking with Jesus from the wilderness to the cross. Yes sir, so ready. Will you join me?  (don’t forget you can follow me on twitter @LeighannMarquis and join the conversation daily #EasterJourney.)

Whew girl even your post was busy…Take the time and breath in the new baby smell, her sweet little head, kiss those little legs and feet. Take the time to sit back and watch a silly movie with the kids and belly laugh with them. The kids grow so fast and soon they will be grown with families of their own. My oldest will be 22 in June and My baby will be 5 in May….I already miss those crazy baby days…
