We had a great weekend! A quick recap:
1. I can’t find my camera charger. Grrr… where oh where is that blasted thing when you need it. And why is it my camera is dead when I need it the most?
2. Saturday my cousins and aunt came to visit… along with two of my sisters and a bunch of kids belonging to everyone. There were 21 of us in total. The kids played splendidly and we had a blast catching up.
3. Sunday was awesome. Ainsley went into her classroom without as much as a whine. Shocker! The last time I took her to Sunday School, she threw a major fit (usually it’s just crying) and ended up kicking the teacher who tried coming to my rescue. Seriously. She’s never kicked a teacher. This week I said as we were parking the car, “No crying today, okay?” She said okay, but I’ve heard that before, if you know what I mean. However, to my great surprise and delight, she walked right into the classroom and started talking to her best friend, Savannah, who was already busy coloring. She didn’t even say goodbye to me!
4. In the afternoon, Henry, the girls and I headed to the park while Ryan stayed and played with his nurse. The girls fell asleep on the way so Henry and I threw a flitball (aka football) as the girls call it, beside the car so we could keep an eye on the kids. I grew up watching flitball with my dad and really enjoy the sport. Henry and I ran patterns and took turns throwing to each other. I realized how weak my lats are… and at the very, very end… and by that I mean the last pass as were walking to the car, I jammed my middle finger. ON THE LAST PASS! Theoretically there may have been another pass if I hadn’t had jammed my finger, but that’s not the point.
The point is I never realized how much you use your middle finger for. And I don’t even use it to communicate internationally (thank you, Top Gun), just to get everyday chores done. And it hurts like heck.
After flitball, we woke the girls up and tried to get them to kick a ball around with us. They bored quickly and set off to the edge of the soccer field to play with twigs. Henry and I started taking penalty shots with one of us as the kicker and the other the goalie. If you don’t know my husband, he turns everything (and I mean everything) into a game. So instead of just kicking penalty kicks, we kept score. He won. But seriously, I could’ve done much better blocking the ball if I didn’t have a JAMMED FINGER.
I will close with a conversation I had with Ainsley:
Me: You wanna come kick with us? Come on, try it. It’s lots of fun.
Ainsley: I don’t want to.
Me: You don’t like soccer? What sport do you like? Basketball?
Ainsley: No, I don’t like to run. (she was dead serious)
Me, laughing: You don’t like to run? Well then, I have the perfect sport for you… volleyball. No running in volleyball!
Which is great because I love volleyball and can’t wait to see if Ains likes it too.
What did you do this weekend?

sweet sounds like an awesome weekend! I went bowling Friday night it was fun bowled a 106 in the first game we only did one game because it was midnight bowling. Saturday we attempted to see the movie “Eat Pray Love” it was suppose to be close captioned but it never showed up in CC so we got our money back and just hung out at the Columbia mall ate some dinner Sunday was relaxing- church and cleaning then picked up your momma from the airport -funny she texted to let me know she was running late because they kicked out a guy who snuck on a dog in a pillow case! :o) have a beautiful day! :o)
OUCH! Hope your jammed finger feels better soon…I know that really hurts.
I cracked up envisioning Ainsley kicking the teacher! What a little rascal…but I think she felt ashamed since the next week she just walked in like nothing ever happened! Ha!
So glad you and Henry had that time to play together…and with the kiddos…except for Ainsley..who does not lie to run. (I feel like I’m reading a kids book!) The Adventures of Ainsley!
Leighann you are so cute.
Do you know my friend Kristin @ These Little Girls of Mine? I did a blog to wish her a Happy Birthday yesterday…if ya know her ya might go and wish her a Happy Birthday. She’s another one of my special girls like you are!
Love you, (Momma Linda)

I truly had a blast with all of you on Saturday! Wow…21 of us! That’s a lot of folks. The kids did get along really well, which was nice also. The Loomis clan got back together on Sunday at church and had a cover-dish dinner (YUM!) Then I just had a couple hours of relaxation time before going to get Polly. It sounds like you had a very pleasant rest of the weekend. So good to see everyone in your family smiling!
Love ya!
So sorry to hear about your finger! My husband and I do the exact same thing- playing football and running patters etc. The exact same thing happened to me though! Last year’s football season we were out throwing passes and I thought I jammed my left ring finger! Come to find out it was broken, but didn’t figure it our until much later. Now my ring finger is crooked-but at least we were having fun when it happened! 🙂
I had a blast at your house. It was fun to sit and laugh all day. Thank you for hosting it for us. love ya.
I have to commiserate 9my big word for the week) with you on Sunday school. Savannah had so many issues with our last church we never got thur a whole service. Our new church we have found here she LOVES it!! I am so excited. Now Sailor had some issues this week but she did have an ear infection so I am hoping wed night service with go smoothly.
Hope your finger feels better fast. we don’t know it but we need all our fingers more then we think.
Does Ryan go to church with you?
