Ryan was off oxygen yesterday until about 4:30 p.m. when he desatted into the 40s for no apparent reason. We were talking of trying to get him home Friday, but with yesterday’s episode, he was put back on oxygen and the team is reassessing his care. I am unsure what this means for us going forward.
He can come home on oxygen, but the question is whether his breathing will remain stable as we start to inject the saline into the tissue expanders. Injections are set to start this coming Tuesday.
The girls loved visiting their brother. They climbed up in the crib with him to play. When it was time to go Natalie said, “No, no, I don’t want to leave yet.” and Ainsley broke into tears when she found out Ryan wasn’t coming with us. “I want baby boy to come with us.” she wailed.
I am waiting to hear what the team has to say, but it looks like for now Ryan is staying where he is.

For what it’s worth, Sophia’s pain was actually better after her first expansion – her plastic surgeon said the less-inflated expander was able to move a little and had some edges that were smoothed out when it was expanded.

Oh man, I’m sorry that he’s stuck in the hospital. I know you wish he was home just as much as the girls do!! I’m praying that he’ll be home soon, soon, soon!!
