The Longest Day of my Life!

January 9, 2010/Ryan
I wish I had the energy to tell you about my entire day, but I’m tired and I must sleep. I will tell you that I was held up for most the morning and didn’t get to the hospital until 2 p.m. – the time I usually leave to get home in time to pick up the girls. We got Ryan bathed and dressed and then had to wait until his nurse discharged her other patient. Ryan worked so hard (PT came while we were waiting) he conked out for a bit.
While we were waiting, several visitors from the CICU and HKU came to say good-bye. The nurses and doctors become very attached to ‘long-termers’, especially ones as smiley and interactive as Ryan.

We were finally ready to pack up… Ryan saying good-bye to his nurse.
We took one last stroll through the HKU and CICU – there was a lot of fanfare, hugging and cooing.

If you remember, Ryan showed some anxiety the first time he came home from the hospital when he was two months old. Today, he acted like we had just taken a short trip to the store. No anxiety to speak of. He sat and played in his chair the entire night while I worked with the nursing agency to get them up to speed on his meds, feeds and medical diagnosis.
That’s all the details you get tonight. Obviously, he’s doing great. We are a little overwhelmed with all that needs to happen, but we’ll get there.

Marmi said it well! My heart overflows with gratefulness to God… my eyes overflow with tears of joy and happiness. Again from Jer. 32:27 “Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh; is anything too difficult for Me?” To our great God alone, be all the praise and honor and glory!! WooHoo!!

I’ve read this entry of your blog 4 times! Ryan’s smile says it all. 🙂 Welcome back home little man!!!

Hopefully life calms down a bit Leighann, I can only imagine how many miles and how much gas you’ve burned. AND how much worry and sleepless nights you’ve spent missing your little man and wondering if he is okay.
