The Eggs 2012

April 5, 2012/Holidays
Is there anything cuter than seeing a three-year-old dye Easter Eggs? He did a lot of stirring, but wasn’t able to manage getting the egg out of the mug. The girls drew an R on one for him and the rest of the time he kept saying, “Mine? Mine?” Like, where is my egg? I’d show it to him drying on the rack and he’d smile and say, “Mine egg.”

The girls loved creating pictures with a white crayon or stripes with rubber bands.
We talked about why we have Easter Eggs. I explained eggs represent new life and how Jesus gives us new life by his death and resurrection. (and now looking on Google to make sure I’m right I see there are multiple reasons for the egg….)

Natalie was the last one to leave the table. She couldn’t bear that we’d run out of eggs (we ONLY had 20!). Her last two eggs were dyed multiple times as she tweaked and experimented with color combinations.

In the end we ended up with 19 beautiful eggs…. enough to make deviled eggs for the weekend and more. Our family loves hard-boiled eggs so I’m not worried about getting them eaten. And in the meantime we made some wonderful memories.

i love your eggs! (and your egg display dish – beautiful!).
there may be other reasons for the egg at easter, but the reason you described to the kids is the very best reason of all. 🙂 ~liz

Kids sure do like Easter Eggs! I think you did a good job explaining why we have them.

How fun that Ryan got “into” them too. “Mine Egg”…how cute!

    I agree with Marmi’s comment…”You are a wonderful mommy.”

    Happy Easter!
