The day my mom got married.

April 23, 2012/Family
On Saturday, my mother got married to Neil. His two children, Tracey and Sean, got more than they bargained for in seven new siblings!  My mom thought seven kids were enough…. apparently nine is her perfect number.

My brother walked her down the aisle in his Class A uniform. Her youngest. Her baby. Her only boy.
People are asking me how I feel about my mom getting married so I’m going to tell you. I’m happy. I encouraged her to date for years but she wasn’t ready. She’s not a dater. She once told me she wanted to reach for the fish on the buffet at the same time as a nice man. While she didn’t meet Neil in a restaurant, their introduction was about as casual as that and Neil was smitten. To be honest, so was my mom.
Saying my mom is married is surreal. She’s been single for as long as I’ve been married. Knowing she’s married to a man who takes care of her and nurtures her is a blessing.
Now after all that sap, I’m gonna show you what we did after Neil and Mom left for their honeymoon.
Dean attempting to maneuver around a table without touching the floor.
John’s turn
Even the Giant got in on it. Except the bro-in-laws held the table. It’s hard to swing all that length around without tipping.
The only one successful at getting all the way around was my nephew JJ.  He showed all the men he’s one of them now.
After we did everything we could for fun at the reception hall, we separated by gender. The boys went to a shooting range. The girls and kids went to Johanna’s house to play and laugh, in that order. At bedtime, we left the kids with Johanna’s teenager and went bowling. (Note to self: get a teenager)
There are way too many bowling pictures, but here are a few:

“Bring it on!”

We did bowl.

Really, we did.
It was an amazing day.
p.s. I hate the new blogger GUI. The end.

I think it’s wonderful that your mom and Neil found each other. I hope they have many years of happiness and love! I had a great time seeing all of you. Wish we could have stayed longer, but I was bushed and felt like a swollen tick (eww). Anyway, hope to get together after things calm down a bit. Even to just sit and talk and let the kids play. Love to you all!!
