Paarrr-Tay!
We had some family in the house on Sunday…. my brother John.
My sister Christine
My mother-in-law, Willa and my SIL and BIL, Tiffany and Bill
There was lots of talking and eating.
And playing around:
And cuddling:
Ryan figured out he can make his eyes close. So he blinks at us A LOT now. I told him to smile, instead he did this:
Please, mom, did you really have to post that picture?
This is the first birthday cake I haven’t made for my kids. It was a crazy day and things didn’t go as planned. The girls and I ran to Safeway and hour before the party and grabbed some food and a cake. Ainsley cried and cried when I said “no” to the sheet cake with pink roses and pastel sprinkles. She was devastated.
Before cake we sat Ryan in his chair. He wasn’t sure what was going on.
He looked at everyone gathered around.
Still no clue…
Wait… mommy’s smiling, it must be okay.
All of us clapping after we blew out the candle for him.
Not bad:

His present from cousin Jocelyn
He had a great time, but did not forget about his mommy…
Playing peek-a-boo with grandma.

WARNING: BIG TANGENT
My family talks about the weirdest things. Height came up in the conversation. My mom asked how tall I am… I am the same height as my sister, Katie. 5’5 3/4″. My mom stood next to Katie and said, “Am I as tall as you?” To which my sister said, “On my tall leg…
“Or my short leg?”
Huh? What? Come again?
Somehow I missed that my sister has uneven legs.
Here she’s explaining that it’s not as bad as it looks… because she has uneven legs, her hips get out of alignment and then the difference in length becomes even greater. If I understood correctly, this has nothing to do with her scoliosis.
Huh?
I also somehow missed that she has scoliosis. My mom has it too. Katie wanted me to make sure we all understand hers is just a few points under the mark where they recommend surgery.
Does anyone else have uneven legs?

Not everyone has uneven legs. I do, which causes my right foot and leg to hurt sometimes when I am very busy or stand a lot. My oldest son had to have back surgery for the scoliosis, his was so bad at 12, his back looked like a question mark and his ribs on one side to jut out forwards. Now he is stright as an arrow with the helps of 2 rods and lots of hardware.

That’s funny! I think every family talks about weird things! My MIL has uneven legs too. Her hips hurt so often. She has to get adjustments & alignments from the chiropractor when it gets real bad. The odd thing is that it gets real bad when she doesn’t ride her horse often enough! If she rides her horse she is perfectly fine! I guess that means God made her to ride! Ha!

    HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO RYAN!!!

Oh I have to laugh at this post Leighann…because when our girls and their families all get together we have strange conversations too…and lots of silliness happens!

Like your sister, I have one leg that is longer than the other too. It bothers me sometimes in my left hip…but most of the time I don’t even notice it.

Again…a Happy Birthday to Ryan! I hope being a big 2 year old will bring him many joys and special times. He is so sweet.

    Love, Linda

I think my legs are even, but I’m going to check it out. I’m quite certain that one of my feet are bigger though. 🙂
Happy Birthday Ryan! What a beautiful little boy you are!

I have uneven legs. From a back injury I had when I was a nurses aide. you can get it adjusted every so often but when my back is really outta alignment I can feel the difference. Some people have it an never even notice.

There is a legend that the merengue was made popular because a king had uneven legs and the merengue was how he danced. Then they made it into a national dance, presumably so the uneven legged, dancing loving king wouldn’t imprison everyone in a wrath.

I embellished on that last bit there.

No, I do not have uneven legs, but I can dance a mean merengue. Ok, I embellished there too.
