This week I only have five…. it’s been a rough week what can I say. But, you know the drill.
1
If you are reading this, chances are you have a cell phone. In fact, my grandmother and grandfather are reading this and I know they have a cell phone. (Hi Papa! Hi Grandma!)  My cell phone speed dial list has ruined me. I used to memorize everyone’s phone number, now without my contact list, I’m screwed. My latest …. when I’m looking for someone’s number, I type in the letter their name starts with, right?  Well, I find myself opening my contact list and punching in the letter A. Guess what happens?  Nothing.  Nothing at all. The list doesn’t move since IT IS ALPHABETIZED IN THE ASCENDING ORDER!

We go to the hospital a lot. The girls have seen things that other kids may never even know exist. But, there is one thing that all kids do understand and that is automatic doors. Well, understand might be the wrong word…  Almost every time we approach the automatic doors in the parking garage at the hospital Ainsley says, “Open!”  And, wa-la, they open.  And often once we are inside she’ll turn around and say, “Close!”  I love that she actually thinks she is controlling the doors with her voice.

My new addiction
This is good licked off the end of a spoon. However, when you spread it on a fresh crepe, sprinkle on a handful of sliced strawberries, roll up the crepe and then put a dollop (yes, I just used the word dollop) of real whipped cream on top…. well, it’s just heavenly.
4
Ryan has a tooth! I noticed it yesterday. Bottom right for those that are interested in details.
5
Over the weekend Henry and I were talking about an article I recently saw about moms bartering services (think marketing and cleaning) for return services (think gym memberships and house painting).  I asked Henry what he thought of the idea. He said, “Sure, you know anyone that’s looking for accounting expertise on  FAS91 yield adjustment ammoritization or impairment accounting on loan assets?”
Question of the week:  What service could you barter or what service are you looking for?

I love nutella here. I have to be careful. And that answer about bartering was so funny. I cannot think of anything right now…. lol

I’m one of those anonymous ones who’ve been reading your blog for some time and I think it’s beyond time to thank you for it. I love the randomness of it, your wonderful sense of humor, but especially I read it to find out how Ryan and the family are doing in this journey God is taking you on. My prayers are with you all.

Ryan has a tooth?!?!!! That is great! I love it. I think about Ryan, and you and Henry, and the girls, and I pray for you often.
Looking forward to the day Ryan goes home.

LOVE Nutella… though how do you sprinkle on strawberries? I have tried to get it on strawberries and it looks like some gloppy mess… but it tastes AMAZING! I also love White Chocolate Wonderful… http://www.ilovepeanutbutter.com/index.php/peanutbutter/peanut-butter.html

Hmmm…. I used to work in medical meeting planning but I moonlighted as an event/meeting/wedding planner.

I love nutella, and had it on bread for breakfast this morning! I also love it was toast, bananas, and a bit of ground cinnamon…yum!

I don’t know what I would barter, but thinking of maybe pet sitting or something like that. Neighbors or friends could trade vacation weeks or something.

Just had been thinking that Ryan should be getting tooth. I’m also nuts about Nutella! Heh, I could sing to a house cleaner.

My husband owns a landscape company and over the years he has bartered some great items. He bought a used boat from a car lot in exchange for mowing services. My favorite barter was a family that was moving and couldn’t pay their mowing bill so he bartered their huge playground set.

my husband loves to barter services- he’s a shade-tree mechanic (but is pretty good at fixin about anything on a vehicle) and he loves to help people with their vehicles, but hates it when they ask how much they should pay him- he usually comes home with baked goods (b/c i hate to bake, he gets neglected of sweets)- he barters oil changes for chocolate chip cookies, changes brake pads for brownies, replaced a fuel pump for friendship bread once- 2 loaves! It works out pretty well for us 🙂
I love to barter with my parents- I pay cell phone bills in exchange for free access to the meat freezer and the canned goods in the basement 🙂

Clearly I could barter my craftasticosity.

  • K-tribe / October 10, 2009 / Reply

OOO I take Maggie’s craftasticosity for cleanng and organizing her house!

Nutella and college ahh yes that brings back memories. Before it was sold in America my roomies would bring it back from overseas. It was great with pretzel sticks!

Nutella is a fav of mine since I first tasted it from a crepe stand (with some strawberries and a bonus of whip cream). Delicious!

Ryan has a tooth…that is exciting. Something good for the baby book.

Bartering…I am too meticulous, couldn’t do it, it would stress me out more than help.

Congrats to Ryan on his new little tooth! He should never complain about a little teething pain with all he’s been through!

As for bartering…I would cook a month’s worth of meals for someone if they would just clean up my kitchen after I did all that cooking! I LOVE to cook, but HATE the cleanup 🙁

It’s amazing how the world just keeps on revolving isn’t it. I’m excited about Ryan’s tooth and just think Ainsley is as cute as a button with the things she comes up with. I am glad you had fun this weekend, even with worrying about Ryan.
We are still praying for you all.
