Ryan Update

July 31, 2009/Ryan

Ryan remains in the CICU on high flow oxygen. I’m happy to say there is no sign of infection and after playing with his feeds, Ryan’s reflux seems to be under control. Woo hoo! The two weeks I had him home, I spoke with four doctors about his reflux and I’m glad we finally found a solution.

The girls did a great job during our visit yesterday but told me today the drive to the hospital is too long. They are growing weary of going back and forth and I can’t blame them. I’m a little weary myself.
The plan for now is that Ryan will stay in house through the weekend and have his scheduled catheterization on Monday. We will reassess his condition on Tuesday and go from there.
We are four weeks away from our scheduled Glenn surgery as of yesterday. We are praying Ryan’s little body doesn’t suffer too much before then.
Isaiah 40:28 -31

  • Do you not know ? Have you not heard ? The Everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth Does not become weary or tired. His understanding is inscrutable .
  • 29.
  •

  • He gives strength to the weary, And to him who lacks might He increases power.

  • Though youths grow weary and tired, And vigorous young men stumble badly,

  • Yet those who wait for the LORD Will gain new strength ; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.

What a relief that there’s no sign of infection, and that Ryan’s reflux is better. We’ll be praying for everything to go well leading up to and with the Glenn surgery.

Sounds like 2 small victories in the midst of a small setback. I am glad he does not have an infection. And Praise the Lord, you found relief for his reflux. God is good even in the setbacks. Those 4 verses are so wonderful. Cling to God’s promises!!! We continue to pray for Ryan and your family. Can’t wait to have the girls with me. Love ya sis.

(((Leighann)))) I’ve been followin your blog since your wee man was born and falling in love with your family. I’m definately riding along on your emotional roller coaster, with as much empathy as I am capable of. God is so faithful and will carry you and Ryan each step of the way. Ryan was created for HIS good pleasure and glory!

“Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is His faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh each morning. I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in Him!” The Lord is good to those who depend on Him, to those who search for Him. So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the Lord…For no one is abandoned by the Lord forever. Though He brings grief, He also shows compassion because of the greatness of His unfailing love. For He does not enjoy hurting people or causing them sorrow.” Lamentations 3: 21-26, 31-33

Oh Praise God that Ryan does not have an infection! I am so glad. Also glad that his reflux is better.

I am praying that he will do well with the Glenn proceedure. And of course I want him to be home as soon as possible.

Hang in there. Hold on to your faith sweetie.

He is so cute, sucking on his little fingers. I love the photo of him watching the monitor. Even in the midst of the chaos, it looks like his unique personality is coming out. He almost looks as if he is thriving in spite of it all. What a fighter!

We sand “Everlasting God” in church today. So fitting. God be praised. Love, Marmi

Just read the update. I’m a little behind. Man did I need those verses. My problems seem so trival compared to what you are going through, but you really reminded me of something I needed to be reminded of. Isn’t it great that we don’t have to take everything on ourselves and serve such a great powerful God? Love you, Amanda Luhn
