Reunited and it feels so good.

May 12, 2012/Family

The girls are here this weekend. They were excited to see Ryan and Mommy when they arrived at the hospital Friday morning. I contemplated taking them out on the town while Henry stayed with Ryan, but after consulting the girls they made it clear they wanted to hang out in Ryan’s room.

After saying hello to their brother, they promptly got down to business coloring and watching TV. Then they moved on to making chore charts for their summer (another post coming), playing doctor, and generally having a good time. It was like they’d never left.

Ryan’s still taking long naps in the afternoon so after a long morning of having his sisters put on puppet shows, throw his toys back and forth with him, and build block towers, Henry and I took the girls out to dinner. The nurse reported Ryan took advantage of the quiet and slept the entire time we were gone.

After a bite at BRGR (which I thought was only okay and very lacking in friendly service), we walked up to Dupont Circle to relax in the sunny evening weather. You know how they say hunger is the best sauce?  Well, the same holds true for being outside – as in – when you’ve been cooped up in the hospital for three days, being outside is amazing. And for children – as in – after not seeing your children for over two weeks, they are such a joy!

After seeing a magician perform at Dupont, the girls sat and made up magic tricks. They’d say, “Okay, close your eyes and count to fifteen.”  Or “Close your eyes and say Abracadabra five times.”  Ainsley was truly amazed the first five times Natalie make a leaf turn into 3 clovers, or made the clovers disappear and so on. It took her a while to catch on that Natalie was doing something other than magic when our eyes were closed. I couldn’t help but think how idyllic the time was (if only I wasn’t worried about my 3 year-old waking up while I was gone).

Fridays is usually our family movie night so we came back to Ryan’s room and all watched a movie together.  I’m looking forward to another fun family day tomorrow.

I am so happy to see you all together and Ryan with a big smile. I know you are elated. I keep praying for your miracle baby – toddler. I love you all and hope that it is soon that you get to go home. May God continue to bless. Aunt Karen
