Rainy Day Fun

October 3, 2011/Family
It’s been raining for days…. and days… here in Pittsburgh. In fact, it’s still raining as I type this. We’ve been told August and September are the wettest months.
Soccer was canceled on Saturday due to the weather so instead we took the kids out for breakfast. “Wanna go get pancakes?” I said to Ainsley. “Yes, with sugar!” she said. She is our sugar fiend. After eating chocolate chip pancakes with syrup she said, “Can we get dessert?”
After dessert, I mean, breakfast, we headed to a mall about a half hour from here that someone recommended to us. There were plenty of low-cost things to keep the kids occupied.
Kiddie Rides – 75 cents

The Pet Store – Free!!
Watching the dogs being groomed
Looking at the reptiles and arachnid
Looking at the rodents
Hugging the bunnies
And holding them too.
And looking at the birds. In the Finch cage there was a tiny egg. The birds all jumped around it inspecting it and taking turns hovering over it. I’ve never seen a bird lay an egg in captivity. It was pretty cool.
Refreshments included a stop at every candy dispenser display. Thank goodness there were only a couple. The kids aren’t the only ones with sweet tooths. Or is that sweet teeth? Anyway, moving on.
We also let the kids play at the indoor playground and bought the girls some clothes at H&M. They rarely go shopping for clothes so were ecstatic to pick a few things out and use the dressing rooms.
Henry and I finished off Saturday with date night at a restaurant near our house and a movie at home.
What do you guys do for fun when it’s rainy?

What a fun weekend Leighann. Just hangin’ out as a family at the mall, after having breakfast out…those are things that don’t cost a lot and yet there is something for everybody.

We are in a drought here in Kansas…so the rain sounds refreshing…and yet I know it can get old…and kids like to go outside. But I actually enjoy the rain and find things to do inside.

    Love ya,
    Linda

…. the rain needs to stop…. we have some pumpkin patches to get to! The play place in the Mills Mall Giggles and Smiles is not all that cheap but it is really fun! My oldest goes crazy for the carousel there, because it is inside and all.
Sounds like a very fun weekend:)

@Jaisa – Yes, I know. It’s still raining and it’s over 12 hours later. Seriously, dude. Enough rain.
We missed Giggles and Smiles. Was that the moonbounce place?
