Quotes of the week

August 2, 2009/The Girls

The other night as I’m tucking Natalie in bed she says, “Mom, you can have the flowers from my wedding because you are invited. I’m going to have my wedding at…..can you give me directions to Marmi’s church?”
Mommy: “Sure.”
Natalie: “I’m going to drive because Kaden (my friend’s little boy) doesn’t know how to get there, right?”
Mommy: “Right.”
Natalie: “Can you drive us?”
Mommy: “Sure.”
Natalie: “But only if we have a huge car with three seats.”

Ainsley while doing a pre-k book we’ve been working through-
I pointed to a vase and said, “What’s this?”  Ainsley didn’t know, so I told her it was a vase. Then, I pointed to the next two pictures on the row. She was supposed to tell me which picture goes with the vase. The first was a flower and the second a shopping cart. I asked her which picture went with the vase. She said, “The shopping cart.” Why? I said. “Because you buy it!”  Trying to help her think it through I said, “What do you put a flower in to keep it pretty?” She said matter-of-factly, “Dirt.”  I then had to explain to her the concept of a vase.

The second row was a foot, a hand, and a shoe. She said, “ A foot just like my foot.” and held up her foot. “A hand just like my hand..” and held up her hand.  “A shoe. It’s a boy one but I don’t wear boy ones. Daddy wears boy ones.”

The third row was a scarf, a coat, and a house. I asked her what she used a scarf with: a coat or a house. She said, “A neck!”

Natalie: “Wow! Your kitchen is so clean. I like your kitchen, mom.”

Great quotes, I especially love Ainsley’s interpretation of the exercises in her pre-k workbook.

Ainsley and the workbook comments are so cute. It all makes TOTAL sense to her, mom! It’s too bad sometimes that by the time we become parents we have forgotten to think like a child.
