Quotable Quotes

March 11, 2011/kids
Natalie: Is it going to be hot or cold today?
Mom: It’s probably going to start out cold and end up nice.
Natalie: Ohhhhh! That’s because it’s March-y out there. It comes in like a lion and out like a lamb.
Ainsley: Is a shrimp a fish?
Mom: It’s a crustacean.
Ainsley: What’s a crustacean?
Mom: It’s a creature that lives in the sea that has a shell… like a crab or a lobster or a shrimp.
Ainsley: We read a book about lobsters and snails. It was about…. oh what’s it called?
Mom: A Crustacean?
Ainsley: No…. a… a…. um….um…. marine life! We read a book about marine life.
Mom: Oh, did you read the book today?
Ainsley: No. We read it a long time ago.
(This isn’t funny, but her memory impressed me and I want to remember.)
And it’s not a quote, but it would be if he could talk. Thursday, Henry was on his way to the bank and he said to the girls, “You want to ride with me to the bank and get a lollipop?”
Ainsley took him up on his offer so Ryan and I were at the door waving good-bye. Ryan looked at me, pointed to the car and grunted.
“You want to go with daddy?” I asked.
His big head flopped a yes.
“You sure?” I said.
He pointed and grunted again.
If you knew how much of a mommy’s boy he is, you would understand this is a huge deal.
I called Henry back and Ryan held his hands out.
“You coming with me?” Henry asked.
Another big nod.
So off the boy went with his sister and dad on a big errand to the bank.
