Ryan’s sick again. He’s fighting a cold. He’s better after the weekend but still. He was well for two weeks this time. He’s puffy and irritable. Life’s been fun. Really.
Both his cardiologists have been hinting about a cath. I’ve been pushing back for several reasons. One – when his Pittsburgh cardiologist suggested one in January, I wanted to wait to see if his sats rebounded after he got over his cold. They did. Two – when his DC cardiologist mentioned it in February, I wanted to see if his edema was a reaction to his ear infection. It was.
This past Thursday Ryan woke up puffy – AGAIN. I think this is to be our winter story. I’ve been giving him 2,000 mg of vitamin C per day… spaced throughout the day. He’s still getting sick.
Friday, after taking him to the pediatrician to rule out an ear infection she asked me to notify cardiology that Ryan was sick again. Just in case. It made my stomach roll. Fear that they’d have us do a cath. Concern that he really needs one. Resignation that he will need regular ones for the foreseeable future. All of these things going through my head for the few minutes it took to get through.
For now he only has a cold. But the cath is coming.
I am a member of a group of people on Facebook, who have been trying to report photos such as this, some pages have been using photos of sick children saying that facebook will donate money for sharing such photos. Of course they do no such thing, and it is a cruel hoax. One photo being shared is actually of a little girl who died 4 years ago, and you can imagine the distress this has caused her mother.
