Last week Ryan’s preschool class went to the National Aviary located in the North Shore area of Pittsburgh.
This is Ryan’s best friend, Zoe. He loves her. She loves him. When they see each other it’s like watching a romantic movie over and over…. they run into each other’s arms and nearly knock one another over.
The class had a session with Mother Nature who taught them what different types of birds eat.
“That is so funny, mom!”
Mother Nature let the kids see a penguin up close and personal.
Then they were able to play with some stuffed animals and give them vet check-ups. Ryan, of course, listened to the heart and lungs and administered a shot. He even brought the animal to me to “hug” while it got a shot. The reason hug is in quotes is because that’s what I call it when I’m holding him down for his shots.
We were also able to see some flamingoes and other water fowl.
Like Pelicans. I’ve never seen a Pelican eat IRL, but we were allowed to feed them fish! Ryan threw them right over the fence. Two landed in the water, but managed to get one in it’s mouth.
And then he wanted to do it again.
I tried to get him to help me feed these pretty birds I forget the name of, but as soon as the bird landed on his head he was over it. I had to grab the nectar from his hand and show him they didn’t want him, they wanted food. He was happy to stand in the corner and watch. We had a great time at the aviary. Here’s Ryan with two of his other friends, Yuke (Luke) and Cawayine (Caroline).

I had to giggle at feeding the beautiful birds, we have family passes to the Brevard Zoo. Every single time we go and feed the birds I end up screaming with a few birds on me and then a zoo keeper having to “SAVE” me since my hubby is doubled over lauging at me, the whole time that scary movie The Birds running thru my head.
BTW, I have been reading your book late into the night the past few nights, I used to be a fast reader now 5 kids later my mind thinks if you have time to read you must have time to do one more thing on your list.
Way too cute for words!!! So neat with feeding the birds too.
Cute. Love it!
What a darling post! Ryan is so adorable…and so is his little girlfriend. 🙂 I am glad that he had such a fun time! 🙂
