My mind is cloudy.

July 13, 2011/Miscellaneous

I’m supposed to be writing an anniversary post to my dearly beloved, but my mind is swirling with lots of things I need to do and other things I am concerned about. I’m babysitting my sister’s five kids as she sits in a hospital room waiting for doctors to figure out why she can’t take deep breaths. She’s going to kill me when she realizes I announced this to the world since most of you are those who know us personally and she is extremely private. And others of you will kill me when you find out I haven’t told you yet. But really, we have no information. Her heart rate is elevated, her arms feel tired, and she can’t take deep breaths. They’ve ruled out blood clots in the brain and lungs, her chest x-ray is clear, here CBC normal, her iron level normal, her EKG normal….. asthma? H1N1? We’re still waiting.

So this morning while I should’ve been writing about how wonderful my husband of 15 years (as of today) is, I’m instead numbing my mind by going through email: deleting, responding, filing…. can’t remember the last time I did that (aside from responding). It’s the only thing I can really concentrate on.
You might be wondering about the 8 kids in my care. Six of them are playing in the pool (I’m sitting outside watching them), one is watching Bob the Builder (he was playing for the last 4 hours outside), and my 13 yr-old niece is playing with Ryan.

I’ve been reading your blog for awhile now and never commented. However, your sister’s symptoms sound familiar to something I went through 4 years ago. It started with some heartburn, then it got where I couldn’t take a deep breath, and then the feeling of food being “stuck” in my chest. My chest XRay was clear but a chest CT Scan showed a mass. They thought it was cancer (very scary)but after a major surgery to do a biopsy it ended up being scar tissue from a lung infection called histoplasmosis. Maybe bring this up to her doctors. Just a thought! Keeping your sister in our prayers!

I’m so sorry for your poor sister. I had a PE last year and it is so scary not to be able to breathe well. I hope they figure it out and get her feeling better really soon!

I had forgotten that we have the same wedding anniversary! We’re also celebrating 15 years today. Congratulations!
