I love the cool, crisp weather we’ve had lately. It makes me in the mood for homey food like maple-glazed pears. I got this recipe from Southern Living’s Slow Cooker Cookbook. It’s easy to make – just throw the ingredients in a slow cooker for the afternoon – and it’s delicious.
Maple-Glaxed Pears
6 Bosc pears, peeled, cored, and halved (I’ve used apples too)
1/2 cup firmly packed light brown sugar
2 tablespoons maple syrup
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Vanilla ice cream
Caramel sauce
Place pears in a 4-quart slow cooker
Combine brown sugar and next 4 ingredients in a small bowl. Pour over pears.
Cover and cook on LOW 4 hours or until pears are tender but still hold their shape.
Serve warm plain or with ice cream and caramel sauce. (I also add pecans or walnuts for extra yumminess.)

I’m going to try this tonight, with apples, and we’ll put over vanilla ice cream. Sounds so yummy, a nice fall friday treat!
