Hutch Makeover

July 23, 2009/DIY

DIY Day @ ASPTL

Below is before and after pictures of a hutch I redid to hold Ryan’s medical supplies and the girls’ craft items. I took a hutch that my mom gave us for our wedding 13 years ago, sanded it down, primed, painted and polyurethaned it and gave it a few accessories.

The hutch was free to me (but not to my mom, of course). I bought two quarts of black behr paint, one can of polyurethane, sandpaper and a handful of sponge brushes. (I dragged the sponge brushes through the wet paint to get the brush marks to disappear. I tried spray paint, but didn’t like the coverage it was giving).
The accessories on top came from around my house so they were also free. The little potted plants were on clearance at Michael’s for $2 each.  I can’t decide if I want to finish the doors so for now I’m using the bins which were at Michael’s for 50% off for $7.49 each.
Because of where this hutch sits, it was hard for me to get a good picture, but here we go….
