February 3, 2012/DIY
Welcome to our first Pinterest Party! I’m so excited to see what pins you guys tried this week. For us, we were inspired by this:

A button monogram! I saw it a few months ago and really wanted to do it for the girls’ rooms. With the hundredth day of school coming up, Natalie’s class is assigned to bring in a poster with 100 items on it. Guess what we made:
We’ll send it as a poster to school, then frame it for her wall when they’re done with it. We also made one for Ainsley’s room.
First I let her arrange the buttons in an A pattern on the poster board. She saw Natalie and I work on the N so she knew just what to do.

Then under close supervision, she hot-glued her buttons to the poster.

Whether a kindergartener does it or a thirty-something mom, there is a lot of wispy glue. Don’t worry, after it dries (which is pretty quickly) you can go back and clean up as much as possible. You’ll still be able to see the globs of glue under the buttons so try to make the initial dots small.)

When she got tired of gluing I took over and finished the project. I then cut the poster board to size and put it in a frame I picked up from freecycle or a yard sale, can’t remember which. The A is a little rounded, but hey, it was done by a 5-year-old. Pretty good if you ask me!

Now it’s time for you to share your pinterest project of the week! Add your link below. If you don’t have a blog, feel free to leave a comment with an inspiration link to your project.

That is a cute project. I think Ainsley’s A is Awesome! And Natalie’s too.

I haven’t gotten into pinterest because I already spend too much time on this silly computer with facebook and blogs. But I know people love it.

    Have a great weekend!

I have a blog but I’m unprepared today (and I’m trying to stay away from Pinterest!) I found this idea for a balloon wreath on another blog who sent me to the link I linked … anyway, I did make the wreath! I will get my act together and posts pics soon.

I like the letter project you did. I’ve seen that in the Family Fun magazine too.

I like seeing this project work with glueing the buttons. I believe the ‘pin’ I saw had you sewing them on…I don’t have time, or talent for that project…but I think I can handle glue! Love both letters the girls created.

I made this delicious salted caramel pretzel bark for Christmas. Oh my! You HAVE to try it! Leighann…I couldn’t get your button to post to my blog for some reason. I’m sure I did something wrong…sorry! I did link your blog, though 🙂

Here’s mine! I made it this past weekend. I used a darker frame and fabric instead of paper.

I’m making at least 3 pinterest recipes for our Superbowl party.

I love the button letters! I have that pinned also. I’m making this southwest chicken chili for a get together this week. It’s dairy free & gluten free which is awesome for me! I’ll let you know how it turns out.
