We are away… at the beach…. in Mexico. So don’t call me if you need me. Email me. And send lots of money by wire to my bank account (kidding of course – we really are in Mexico but don’t need money. This isn’t one of those email scams).
This is Ryan’s first trip to a beach and he LOVES it. He loves the water and sand equally. This morning I spent ten minutes watching him sit on the shore right where the waves reached putting handfuls of sand on his toes only to have the water wash it away within seconds. He was mesmerized by it.
Ainsley is loving it too. She enjoys making sandcastles and today added to her repertoire by making sandmen. That would be snowmen, but with sand. She made them complete with eyes, nose, and mouth with pieces of shells and stones and arms of seaweed. Although she’s been to the beach a few times, she’s never ventured into the sea. She was brave enough to try it with me yesterday. We rode the waves together and she couldn’t wipe the giddy grin off her face.
Natalie is a fish. A real live mermaid! She loves the pool and ocean. It’s fun to see her independence and sense of spirit. We’re at a resort and the activities team has group games on the first day you arrive. She jumped right in playing the balloon toss, the limbo, and a few other games. She ended up winning a t-shirt and laundry bag. Score!
Henry and I are enjoying ourselves too. Several of his siblings are here and his mom, so we have lots of hands and eyes for the children. Today Henry and I went sailing on a Catamaran, it was a blast. I’m looking forward to the rest of the week.
