Virtual meets Reality

December 17, 2009/Miscellaneous
Monday night I left the house without kids and without my husband. Insane, I know, but a girl has to do what a girl has to do. What, you ask, could be so important for me to run out on my family?
A girls’ night out of course!!  Courtney hosted a get-together for Julie who is home for the holidays from Hungary. I’ve only met Julie one time….. and that would be last Friday when I gave her a huge hug at a ladies’ Christmas tea at my church. We didn’t even have time to say a proper hello, and since we knew we’d see each other Monday, it didn’t matter.
How, you ask, did you know to give Julie a hug, if you only met her on Friday?  Well, you see, we unofficially met a little over a year ago when I started commenting on her blog and she then started commenting on mine. Don’t you just love how this internet thing works? I found her blog through someone else’s blog – – maybe even Courtney’s and just helped myself to looking in on her life. And she helped herself right back. When her son Eli was hospitalized for six weeks last February, I was able to pray for her family and email her encouragement. When my son was born last February, she was able to pray for us and email me encouragement. LOVE IT!  And, I loved getting to meet her in 3-D on Monday night.
Me and Jules (I can call her that now that we’ve met in real life)
A group shot – we joked about who would have the group shot up on their blog first.

For those who wonder if I’m still nursing…the answer is yes. That would be me in the far corner still eating while everyone is talking (if I had photoshop I’d put an arrow pointing to myself, but alas I don’t, so no arrow). I was working on my second small piece of homemade pound cake. I love homemade pound cake and hate store bought. And Courtney, God bless her, made her great-grandmother’s recipe.
Thanks, Courtney, for hosting. And thanks, Julie, for taking time out of your busy schedule to hang with us.

Leighann that looked like fun! I am so glad that you got to meet your blog friend Jule and give her a hug in real life. I feel like we are always giving “virtual hugs” when we leave our comments of encouragement,..but there is nothing like the real thing!

You and Ryan and the family are always in my heart.

I was just looking at the list of “Top Prayer Requests”. It looks like every one of them are answered. Hallelujah!

So I obviously lost the “first one to post the photo contest”. My blog is so far behind! I loved seeing that you posted the yes-I’m-still-breastfeeding photo. Too funny! And so great to see you that night and actually have some time to chat!
