One last post to finish up our weekend marathon of eating! For lunch we took Henry’s family across town to the Shadyside neighborhood to a French Bistro called Paris 66.

We entered the small bistro, filing along a long front case and grill area to the back where the seating is located. It was a dimly lit, vintage French atmosphere.

When I asked the waitress about gluten-free options, she brought me a list of items that may appear on the menu (their menu changes often) that are gluten-free. It seems more and more places are becoming aware of gluten allergies and are catering to this population. A prepared list or marking on the menu (obviously) makes it easier than having the server constantly running to the kitchen to ask the chef if something is made with flour or may contain hidden sources of gluten.

I ordered a Croque Monsieur since I’d already completely blown my paleo streak. Why not go out with a bang? Lillie ordered the mussels which were quite tasty. I forgot to take pictures of our actual food because I was busy serving children and nursing Piper. You’ll have to trust me that it was pretty.

Henry and I somehow ended up sitting across from each other at the opposite side of the table from the kids, it was like a mini date! (the lighting is very dim– sorry!)

As far as being family-friendly, I’d give Paris 66 a 7. They had linguine with parm for kids, although it wasn’t listed on the menu. We were able to order that, and a croque monsieur with fries to feed the three glutenavore children. Natalie ordered soup and salad and was satisfied. (they get docked for not having a baby-changing station in the bathroom or a grilled cheese sandwich!)

The food was satisfying and it was fun to have options other than the regular American fare. Henry said their dinners are impressive, perhaps I can convince him to take me back in the evening without children sometime soon.
